A Ride in the Teacups

Does anyone have any tips for how to entertain a two year old while older kids are riding bigger rides? Do you just split up? Also, I heard that Autopia will allow a parent to ride with two small children in one car...is that true?

Hello, Tamara! Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

There is certainly no shortage of entertainment for Guests of all ages at the Disneyland Resort. When some members of your party want to ride an attraction that others aren’t tall enough yet to ride, splitting up is usually the easiest way to please everyone in your party. There are over 40 attractions that don’t have height requirements which would be great options for the little ones while the older kids are riding the larger thrill attractions. For instance, while some of the taller children are riding Splash Mountain, take the younger kiddos on The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh which is located nearby.

If both parents want to ride the larger attractions as well, take advantage of Rider Switch. With this service, one group rides the attraction while another adult waits outside the attraction with the younger kids. Once the first group is done riding, the adults switch places and the adult that was waiting can now ride the attraction within a set return time window using the FASTPASS queue.

Autopia is such a fun attraction for those at least 32” tall. The cars can accommodate up to three small riders or two adults. When you arrive at the attraction, speak to a Cast Member to see if they think your group of three can ride comfortably and safely. From experience, I know that the cars can be a tight squeeze, but depending on the size of the riders it could be possible.

I hope your trip to the Happiest Place on Earth is full of magic and memories!
