Hi - Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the Festival of Lion King AND Rivers of Light? Are they both outdoors? same time? Thank you!

    Dear Donna,

Thank you for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I am so glad to hear you have a trip planned for this year! You must be so excited knowing it is just a couple of months away!

Let me tell you I just attended both shows two days ago and they are fabulous. If you love The Lion King as much as I do, then this indoor Broadway-style show filled with songs and puppetry will be perfect for you. Festival of the Lion King features costumed dancers, acrobats, a fire dancer, stilt walkers, and obviously Timon, Pumbaa, and our dear Simba. This 30-minute show is offered every hour between 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Be sure to check the Entertainment Schedule and your My Disney Experience app for the most recent, up-to-date information (showtimes are subject to change). I am sure you will love to relive classic such as “Hakuna Matata”, “Can You Feel the Love Tonight?” and “Circle of Life.”

Rivers of Light: We Are One , Disney's Animal Kingdom first nighttime spectacular, is an outdoor show featuring lantern floats and a powerful musical arrangement that includes familiar Disney classics such as those from The Lion King. This reimagined show offers a really moving experience for those who have great respect for animals and the amazing role they play in this great circle of life we are all a part of. This show lasts approximately 17 minutes and as I said above, be sure to check your My Disney Experience for the most up-to-date information for this show. Keep in mind that fireworks are not a part of this show or any other show at Disney's Animal Kingdom out of respect towards all animal residents.

Donna, I wish you a fun-filled day at Disney's Animal Kingdom! I really hope to see you again with more questions!

Meet the Panelist: Desiree, Peru

Hi! I'm Desiree from Lima, Peru. My family will never ever tire of visiting the Most Magical Place on Earth, even if means traveling almost 3,000 miles to do so! My husband and I love to watch the fireworks with our kids, but the best magic happens when the grandparents come along and we all feel the same age in front of Cinderella Castle! I love giving tips about different types of resorts and traveling with multigenerational groups.
