Anyone know if the Star wars weekend has ever overlapped the flower and garden festival? I am trying to guess when to book for star wars 2013 and they just announced the dates for the garden thing. I am a DVC member and wanting to secure my room.

    Hello, Rod!

I did a little research on my favorite unofficial source of Disney information, allears.net, and discovered that, in the last two years' worth of Flower and Garden Festivals (at Epcot) and Star Wars Weekends (at Disney's Hollywood Studios), these two events did not overlap. However, in those same last two years, the end of the Flower and Garden Festival fell within 3-5 days of the first Star Wars Weekend. As such, if you can plan to be in Walt Disney World for a week, you may be lucky enough to be able to enjoy both of these wonderful events!

I'd call Member Services to inquire about availability at your home resort (to take advantage of the 11-month Home Resort Booking Window) for that last weekend of the 2013 Festival, May 18th and 19th, With luck, the Star Wars Weekends will begin that next weekend, although this is not a guarantee. Dates do change from year from year, sometimes by a week or more, so check back online frequently to monitor any announcements as soon as they are made.

Should you need to adjust your Disney Vacation Club reservation, keep in mind that you can move the dates around a bit, sometimes with maintaining the exact same number of points between the two reservations. One year, when we found out that the last Star Wars Weekend was going to be held just one weekend prior to our arrival (and school was letting out a bit earlier, due to lack of snow), I called Member Services and moved our arrival up by a few days, even managing to stay at the same resort. Again, just keep your eyes on the website so that you can adjust your reservation, should you need to do so, as soon as the Star Wars Weekend dates for 2013 are announced.

Good luck, and send more questions as you think of them! I'd love to help!
