Does anyone have any creative ideas on how to surprise our two kids with tickets to Disney for Christmas? I'd like to do something more than a simple presentation of tickets. Any thoughts?

    Hi Deanna,

There are plenty of ways you could make your exciting announcement on Christmas morning.  In fact my friend and colleague here at the Moms Panel, Erin, has an article coming out next week on ways to surprise your kids.  Just go to the independent fan site,TouringPlans. com, and search "surprise visits" to see the article for yourself.

In the meantime, consider these options:

    1.  Wrap your tickets in a huge gift box and place it under the Christmas tree.  Some folks tie them on the end of a balloon and string.  Then, when the kids open the box, the balloon floats out and the kids see either a note explaining the surprise or an envelope with the tickets tied to the string.  (Also make sure there's a weight on the end of the string if you have high ceilings).

    2.  At my house, we regularly do scavenger hunts on Christmas morning.  These lead to my son's biggest present for the year.  The first box has a tiny gift with a clue.  The first clue leads to subsequent clues and, ultimately, to a box with the biggest clue (a stuffed Mickey Mouse, for instance) and a letter explaining the surprise.

Let us know if you need additional suggestions, Deanna, and be sure to check out Erin's article next week on Touring Plans.

Best wishes and thanks for posting your question to the Moms Panel!
