Is an annual pass good for 1 year from date of purchase or a set calendar year?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Gail!

Your year of magic begins when you activate your Walt Disney World Annual Pass, not necessarily when you purchase it.  For example, I purchased my Annual Pass a couple of months ago, and plan to activate it on my upcoming visit next month.  An Annual Pass must be activated in person at a Walt Disney World ticket window or Guest Relations location.  My Annual Pass is linked to my My Disney Experience account, and currently shows an expiration date of December 31, 2030.  This is the date it must be activated by.  When I activate my pass, My Disney Experience will update the expiration date to show the last valid day I may use it for admission, 1 year from the date of activation.

If you are planning on purchasing an Annual Pass, I would go ahead and purchase it now.  That way it will already be linked to your profile in your account so you can make your FastPass+ reservations.  Even if your Annual Pass isn't activated yet, you may still take advantage of Annual Passholder Special Offers for upcoming Disney Resort Hotel stays.  Simply activate your pass and present it to the front desk during your stay.

If you have additional questions about Annual Passes or any other questions about planning your Walt Disney World Resort vacation, please stop by the Moms Panel again anytime.  We are always happy to help!
