Anna, Thanks for your earlier answer about how to handle food & diabetes on a WDW trip. What has been your favorite dessert? I'm guessing a Kitchen Sink is out of the question. I'm thinking of visiting for a week & not going to any theme parks

Hi, Rochelle!  I'm an easy to please kind of gal when it comes to dessert, and because I have come to realize sugar free doesn't mean it's carb free, I'll allow myself a couple of bites of a regular dessert now and again.  That means the Kitchen Sink is in - as long as you have 10 or 12 of your closest friends with you to help you eat!

Your best bet with desserts is to notify the restaurant in advance that you are diabetic.  I've had some awesome desserts, courtesy of the chefs at the various restaurants, but I think 'Ohana wins, hands down.
The shops that sell ice cream usually have flavors other than sugar free vanilla that are usually safe, but they vary.  The last time I was at Beaches and Cream they had a butter pecan type of flavor that was delicious!

You will find a pre-packaged sugar free brownie in a number of locations.  Honestly, I'd skip that because of the carb count.  It tastes okay, but I'd much rather have some fresh pineapple or even the sugar free vanilla ice cream.

I also really enjoy fresh fruit.  Most of the chefs can throw something together using fresh fruit that tastes way better than if you were home, having to clean and peel everything yourself!

    Have a great vacation!
