Hi, Sheryl!  I'm glad to help!

In your carry on bag, I'd pack the things you are going to need at least in the first few hours after you arrive.  Assuming you have Disney's Magical Express picking up your checked bag, you'll want to pack in your carry bag any medications you might need, a small tube of sunscreen (don't forget - 3 ounces or less in a quart size zip top bag), a swimsuit if you plan on heading to the pool in case your room isn't ready, or whatever you think you'll need to head into the theme park right away if your room isn't ready.

Make sure you have your photo ID handy, sunglasses, a hat if you wear one, and something to read if you plan on lounging at the pool.  If you'll need gum for take off or landing, make sure you buy it before you get to the airport.  Some airports - like Orlando - don't sell it inside the airport.

So, the essential list for the carry on bag -

    sunglasses
    sunscreen and lip balm
    medications
swimsuit (and pool shoes or flip flops if you're wearing something else)
something to read or do on the plane - or at the pool if you're lounging
    photo ID
    gum

I also wanted to suggest that if your flight comes in around dinner time, and you'll want to change for dinner, bring that change of clothes with you in your carry on as well.

Come on back and see me if you need anything else, Sheryl!  Thanks so much for your question!
