We are going to Animal Kingdom in April for the first time. We have an 8 year old and an 8 month old. Will there be a lot we can do with the baby at AK? Please tell me more about the rider swap program; are there rides the baby can go on, etc. Thanks.

There are fewer rides at the Animal Kingdom in general, but there is still plenty you can do there with your baby. I first took my twins there when they were nine months old and we had a great time.

The one "can't miss" ride you'll want to take your baby on is the Kilimanjaro Safari. (Just hold on tightly to your little one; the ride can get BUMPY.) Both your kids will love spotting all the unique creatures roaming the land there. Once you get off the Safari, spend some time exploring the Pangani Forest Trail. There are giant bats, gorillas, tigers and other amazing species there that you can see up close.

You should also take your family to Rafiki's Planet Watch, this is reached via a quick train ride. Once at the Planet Watch, you can visit the Affection Section. This is somewhat like a petting zoo, with several species of goats and sheep there. These animals are among the most tame I have ever seen. One of my twins once spent almost an hour just brushing one goat.

There are numerous shows at the Animal Kingdom that you can all experience together. These include: Flights of Wonder, Finding Nemo -- The Musical, Festival of the Lion King, and Pocahontas and Her Forest Friends. Also, you should check out the Boneyard in DinoLand. There is a great playground for your older son and a big "dig site" (think sandbox) that your baby can play in.

And don't forget the character greeting lines at Camp Minnie-Mickey. My girls' favorite thing to do when they were babies and toddlers was to meet the characters. They loved giving them hugs and feeling their soft fur.

Your 8-year-old may want to experience a few of the more "mature" attractions at the AK (Everest, Kali River Rapids). And for this you could use the swap program. For more information about this, search this Moms Panel site for "baby swap," "child swap," and "rider swap." You'll get lots of good info there.

    Have a great trip!
