Hello Andrea. I was reading your question from Jenny. I am going to OKW June 26-my first time as new DVC owner. Why do you like buildings 23-26? Also, which water park is better for a 5 year old. Thanks.

    Hi, Barbara!

You are going to LOVE Disney's Old Key West Resort as well as all of the comforts and perks of being a Disney Vacation Club Member! Congratulations!

However, from our very first stay at OKW, we discovered the beauty of 23-26 (27 is good, too) because of two factors. First, Building 23 has a lovely view of the pond, as does 25. Both 24 and 26 / 27 also have a great golf course view. My favorite feature, however, is their proximity to my favorite bus stop at OKW. That stop is often the very first stop when a resort bus returns to OKW. If it's not a peak departure / return time, then you'll most likely get a seat. (Woo hoo!) We quickly learned, though, that the bus route heads from there through the rest of the resort stops, then loops back around and passes the stop for buildings 23-26 (Peninsular Road). As the returning bus drives toward your stop, you can see where it's headed next. If it's going to your destination, then you can quickly walk across the bridge to the Hospitality House stop and catch that bus! The trick is that the bus will turn LEFT as it approaches HH, to pick up Guests at the Millers Road stop. That left and additional stop is just enough time for you to quickly walk over to the HH stop and catch that bus. At that point, the bus may be crowded, but if you have a reservation to get to, or don't want to wait up to 20 minutes for the next bus, it's another option.

We also love how easy it is to walk to the Main Pool from those buildings, as well as all of the fun that's offered daily at Community Hall. Picking up a complimentary DVD rental (for DVC Members), refilling the mugs, getting a Turtle Crawl for the adults, soaking in the hot tub, sliding down that fantastic sand castle pool slide and picking up some more milk for the morning's breakfast are all options that are just a 2-minute walk away. It's heavenly!

Send more questions as you think of them, Barbara!

    And WELCOME HOME! :-)
