Hi Andi, We are booked for a June 2012 Alaskan cruise. My husband and I will be traveling with our 3 sons who will range from the age of 16 to 11 when we travel. What Port Adventures would you recommend? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi, Tanya!

Our Disney cruise to Alaska last month was one of the best vacations of our lives -- I believe that the experience made a permanent impression on our children.  At different times, they've all expressed a desire to return -- either on vacation or even to study or work later in life.

We were blessed to have spent our cruise filming for Disney Cruise Line focusing on the various events and activities aboard the ship and on the Port Adventures for families. The resulting 7 videos can be found on YouTube on the Disney Cruise Line News Channel and on the Disney Parks Blog.  The videos feature the best of my tips and hints as well as showcase some of the amazing Port Adventures. Take a quick look at the videos for a first-hand look at what we experienced.

We have three sons -- 16, 11, and 7 -- and one daughter, 14.  They may all tell you something different as far as their favorite Port Adventures, but I think they would all agree on zip-lining in Skagway, helicopter ride to dog mushing and glacier trekking in Juneau and the Lumberjack Show in Ketchikan. After you've looked at these shore excursions both on the videos and on DisneyCruise.com, come back and ask me more questions. I'd love to help you narrow it down!

Reminiscing about my voyage in anticipation of yours makes me so thrilled for you and your family. Make sure that you soak in every moment and take tons and tons of pictures.  Your sons may roll their eyes, but you'll be so happy to have a great account of this amazing adventure.

Thanks for visiting me here and come back to ask questions as you think of more. Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
