Hi Amanda! I like how you say you like the finer things in life, but love shopping for a bargain! This is our first trip to WDW and was wondering if you could give me some tips about dining. Everything from Snacks, to quick service, to sit down. Thanks

Hi Amy! I'm so glad you asked this question -- Disney Dining is one of my favorite topics!

You can see the various restaurants of Walt Disney World at http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/restaurants/, and you can browse the menus at www.allears.net. I recommend that you make reservations by calling (407)-WDW-DINE or by clicking here.  Your trip will be much more relaxing if you make your dining plans in advance; it's no fun to spend your vacation wandering around tired and hungry trying to find a restaurant with an open table.

For sit-down restaurants, I really like Le Cellier and Rose & Crown in Epcot, Ohana in the Polynesian, the Wolfgang Puck Cafe at Downtown Disney, and if you want to splurge, the California Grill in the Contemporary.  The Sci-Fi Dine-In at Hollywood Studios is a lot of fun.  Character meals are a great way to meet Mickey and friends without standing in line in the parks, and we've always found the food at Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace to be fresh and flavorful. If you're not on the dining plan, it's more budget-friendly to eat breakfast or lunch instead of dinner at a sit-down restaurant.

I have to admit I prefer the sit-down restaurants to the quick-service ones, just because when I need a break from the parks I find it stressful to carry a tray through a crowded restaurant looking for a table while trying to keep up with my children.  However, my favorite counter-service restaurant is Earl of Sandwich at Downtown Disney; it's worth the hassle!

For snacks, I have to recommend that you try a DoleWhip at Aloha Isle in the Magic Kingdom.  This pineapple soft-serve is so refreshing, it's become legendary!

I'm so excited to help you plan your first trip to WDW! Please don't hesitate to ask me more questions!
