We always stay at the cabins at FWC & love it but are considering trying something new, SS Treehouse. We're so used to FW transportation & resort grounds. How does SS transportation compare? Any tips as the treehouses are far from everything?

Hi Michele! I don't blame you for wanting to try new things and resorts while at Walt Disney World. It is a large property and we all tend to get into our own comfortable ruts. But I will say that after vacationing there since it opened in 1971 I have my favorites and the Fort Wilderness cabins are on that list.

The Treehouse units are a distance not only from the main resort, Saratoga Springs, but also from all parks. Transportation is one of the drawbacks as you first need the internal bus and then the main buses at Saratoga. Although the Fort Wilderness property also has internal buses you have options such as golf carts and it is all within walking range if you choose to do that. The big benefit of Fort Wilderness is that it is full of fun recreation and dining events such as Hoop Dee Doo and Mickey's Backyard Barbecue and even Chip and Dales Campfire Singalong. Having so much at your doorstep is very nice!

The direct boat to the Magic Kingdom is also a perk and it is easy to hop on the monorails to Epcot by boating over to the Contemporary resort to catch the system there. The Treehouses are certainly newer and you gain with that for an amenity but lose out on the transportation aspect.
