Allison - we are scheduled to go to Disney in October....My daughter has Down Syndrome. We went two years ago but understand what Disney offers for special needs kids have changed. Can you give me some information please?

    Hi Brian ~

The Guest Assistance Card (GAC) has now been replaced by the Disability Access Service Card (DAS). You can request a DAS for your daughter by going to Guest Relations at any of the theme parks. A Cast Member will ask you some questions so they can best accommodate her specific needs. You will not be required to present any type of medical documentation to obtain a DAS. The Cast Members at Guest Services will take a photo of your daughter for the DAS, go over the terms and conditions, and have you sign the card.

Here is some additional information regarding the details of how the DAS works. I've also included a list of Frequently Asked Questions about the DAS .

You can only obtain a DAS return time for one attraction at a time but can request another DAS return time as soon as your daughter has finished one. Disney FastPass+ service (FP+) can be used in addition to the DAS. If you are eligible to make FP+ selections prior to your trip, I would encourage you to do so.

If she will be using a stroller as a wheelchair, you will need to get a red band for her stroller at Guest Relations in order to enter the queues with it. They do not indicate that Guests may use a stroller as a wheelchair on the DAS like they did on the GAC.

I am limited in space but please feel free to visit again with any additional questions. I am honored to assist you.

Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
