Hi Allison, I have an 8am ressie at Kona. Staying at POR. If I take the bus to MK, will the monorail be running to take us to the Poly? What time should we be at the bus stop? Thanks.

    Hi Jaynee ~

Now that you've mentioned Kona Cafe, I have a craving for Tonga Toast.

No worries, the Resort Monorail Line typically begins running at 7 a.m. which will give you plenty of time to reach the Polynesian Resort from the Magic Kingdom. I like to allow myself a little extra time and not feel rushed so I would give myself at least 25 - 30 minutes from the time I reached the Magic Kingdom bus stop to get to the Polynesian. Its going to take you a few minutes to walk from the bus stop to the Monorail Station. You may have to wait a few minutes on a Monorail to arrive as well. The Resort Monorail makes stops at the Contemporary and the Transportation and Ticket Center before arriving at the Polynesian. Once you're there, Kona will be located just inside the doors to the left on the same level you exit the Monorail. You should arrive 10 - 15 minutes prior to your reservation.

When you check in at Port Orleans Riverside, be sure you ask them what time and where the Character Dining bus for early reservations starts running to the Magic Kingdom and if the schedule for the day of your reservation will be direct to the Magic Kingdom or will include any other stops after your pickup. Since your trip isn't until May, the schedule could change between now and then. Typically, its only about a 20 minute ride direct to the Magic Kingdom but when you have dining reservations, you don't need to leave it to chance. Once you know the schedule you can add in the other factors to determine what time you should be at the bus stop.

If it looks like its going to be cutting it too close and driving your own car isn't an option, taking a taxi may be the easiest way to make an early morning dining reservation. It may cost you a little money but will allow you a few extra minutes to sleep and its less stressful than trying to catch an early bus and the transportation changes to make your reservation on time.

Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
