Hello All, How best to choose rides for children 9 and 7? How best to stop the "I'm not going on that!", on the day? Thanks.

    Hi, Helen!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and thanks for your question. You’re going to have a wonderful visit to the Disneyland Resort this winter. With so many new additions and seasonal extras, there will be plenty of attractions and entertainment you and your children will enjoy!

The best advice I can give you for visiting the theme parks with children is to have a touring plan in mind before you arrive. Make time for the family to look at Disneyland.com, particularly the attractions list, together. See what each park has to offer and let the kids create wish lists. You may find that there’s more overlap in their interests than you anticipated, and it’s a great way to get a jump on the planning and excitement. Most importantly, each child will feel like his or her desires were worked into the family’s schedule, which will make for smoother days in the parks. If you think bravery might be an issue for some of the thrill rides, it can help for the kids to have some extra time in advance to mentally prepare and psych themselves up for the challenge, so to speak. I was a cautious rider in my younger years and needed some gentle encouragement to ride certain attractions, but I found that once I was in line, I was able to muster up the courage by the time we reached the front.

You may want to measure your kids’ height shortly before the trip and then check out the list of height requirements for attractions online so you’ll know in advance if there are any attractions they aren’t able to experience. Be sure to utilize Disney FastPass Service when available to make the most of your time in the parks!

I hope this helps, Helen. Please feel free to ask me any other questions you have as you continue to plan your pixie-dusted vacation!

    Wishing you magic,
    Courtney
