Alison, When a stroller is tagged as being a medical device, is the family allowed priority boarding at buses as if it were a wheelchair? Asking for a friend travelling solo with a 9yo and autistic 6yo sons in one month -YAY. Thanks! --{-@

    Hi Rochelle ~

You are a sweet friend to help your friends plan their Disney vacation. My son has a special needs stroller that we use as a wheelchair. We obtain a special band from Guest Services in a theme park so that Cast Members will see that we are using it as a wheelchair. It should be placed on a handle so that it can easily be seen.

If we want our son to remain in the stroller on the bus and not fold it, the drivers have to secure it with straps just as they do a wheelchair or an ECV. In those instances (in my experience), we were given priority boarding. There are usually only 1 or 2 spaces on each bus to secure wheelchairs or ECVs. If we see that there are other ECVs or wheelchairs in line in front of us, we usually fold the stroller so that we can board a bus and not have to wait until the next bus.

There have been several times that Guests recognize my son's special needs and let us go ahead of them in order to get on a bus. We've also found that if it is a crowded bus, a super nice Guest will voluntarily give up their seat for my son to sit.

Please feel free to visit me with any other questions for you or your friends. It is always our pleasure to assist you!

Wishing your friends minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
