    William from CA Asked

Hi again! Thanks for the link to Memory Maker. I was wondering if that works like the old PhotoPass+ that you could buy at DLR. Or if is like purchasing MaxPass add-on to APs. Like, if we get memory maker, can we use it for more than one visit to WDW?

    Welcome BACK, William!

It's great to see you again, and thank you so much for asking this Walt Disney World Resort Memory Maker question to me! I really do love that you're asking so many Disney vacation planning questions - pretty soon you'll be a Disney Parks expert yourself and should totally join us hEAR on the Moms Panel!

Full disclosure, I've only lived in California and been a Disneyland Resort Annual Passport holder for the last almost two years, so I'm not super sure how Disneyland's PhotoPass service used to work before my time. But, when thinking of how collecting and saving photos works at Walt Disney World Resort vs. Disneyland Resort, then yes, the Walt Disney World Resort Memory Maker product is 95% similar to just the photo portion of Disneyland Resort's MaxPass. Both allow you to save as many Disney PhotoPass images as you take throughout the day from both in-person photographers as well as on-ride attraction photos. And both allow you the digital ownership of all images saved in the parks and then downloaded to your devices.

But, where Disneyland Resort offers MaxPass in options of one-day, one-week or a one-year add-on for APs, the standard option for Walt Disney World Resort's Memory Maker is to collect photos for 30 consecutive days, starting the day you cheese it up for your first image. (A one-day version also exists.) These digital images will be accessible to you for 45 days from the date they were taken. And just like Disneyland, they show up in your My Disney Experience Mobile App a few hours after they were taken, where you can download and share them instantly.

One main difference between the two is that with Disneyland's MaxPass you get the added benefit of being able to reserve attraction FastPasses in your Disneyland App; that service, known as FastPass+ on the east coast, is already included and built in to every Walt Disney World Resort Theme Park Ticket. (And super neat, you get to reserve up to three attractions per day, up to 60 days in advance!)

Another difference is that you only need to purchase one Memory Maker package for your entire group. As long as everyone in your party is linked back to the Memory Maker purchaser in your My Disney Experience Family & Friends list, every photo saved to a magic band from any person linked will show up in your account, even if your group has split up and are in different parks!

Since you asked about multiple Walt Disney World Resort visits, a new Memory Maker would need to be purchased if your trips were months apart. But, from looking at your previous questions asked, if you're thinking of becoming a Walt Disney World Annual Passholder, then you wouldn't need to purchase a Memory Maker package at all because the Annual Pass options available to non-Florida residents automagically include all PhotoPass downloads, with the images expiring from your account after 365 days just like your Disneyland AP.

Pro Tip: Instead of purchasing both a Disneyland Resort Annual Passport AND a Walt Disney World Resort Annual Pass, check out the Disney Premier Passport, which includes admission, photos, parking and more, every day of the yEAR, to all of Disney's U.S. theme parks with NO blockout dates!

I hope this helped, William, and We'll See You Real Soon!
