Hi again! We'll be staying in Orlando for 2 weeks and will have a 10 day ticket with park hopper. I know everything at WDW is magical, but do you have any favorites, secrets or special places at the parks we, 1st timers, would probably miss? Thanks a lot!

Hello again Lilian! You'll definitely have time to do what I always recommend to families - slow down and enjoy the details. Almost everything at Disney has a story behind it. If you allow yourself time to soak it all in-the way the music and trash can decor change based on what land they are in...the little touches everywhere that really make you feel like you are IN the world Walt Disney wanted to create. It's the details that really separate Disney from all other vacation spots and create such magical memories.

One of my favorite things to do is relax and take a round trip ride on the Walt Disney World Railroad. Many people just walk right by it in their rush to get to the other attractions, but it's really quite a treat. I think your 5 year-old would love seeing the train up close like that too.

Another fun thing I like to do is just explore the resort that we are in, the attention to detail doesn't stop there and you'll be surprised by some of the wonderful little spots you find along the way - be sure to look out for hidden Mickeys too.

It's great that you're making plans to see the parades and fireworks show-they are so magical! Of course if you've seen them once, it's a great time to get on rides with less wait since many people are lining up to watch the shows. A fun sight to see is the Electrical Water Pageant which takes place (weather permitting) on Bay Lake each night. It starts out the Polynesian Resort at 9pm and goes clockwise over to the Contemporary Resort. It's a really fun way to end the night.

Be sure to look for some of the unique snacks at the parks too - DoleWhip in Adventuraland, a homemade Tollhouse cookie ice cream sandwich in Liberty Square in the Magic Kingdom, the School Bread in Norway or shaved ice in Japan in Epcot, or a carrot cake cookie at Writer's Stop in Hollywood Studios.

I'd love to hear what your favorite parts of your vacation were when you return! ~Suzannah
