Hello again Marcy. If we decide not to do an excursion at St. Maarten (and enjoy the Fantasy ship/pool/slide), can we walk off ship and along pier and into a 'shopping-souvenir' type area for a couple of hours OR do we need to go on excursion to shop? Thx

Hi JanaLee! If you don't see a Port Adventure that is something you must do, it's always fun to just spend some time exploring the port area and then head back to the ship for some fun when there are less crowds! My family loves to ride the AquaDuck and join up with the Midship Detective Agency while at port so we don't have the waits we'd find when all the guests are onboard!

In St. Maarten, the Fantasy will dock at Phillipsburg, which is on the Dutch side of the island. The dock is about a mile from the main area of Phillipsburg, but there is quite a bit to explore just off the pier itself if you don't want to venture too far. There is a shopping mall at the end of the pier with a welcome center, souvenir shops and at least one restaurant. If you wander that area a bit and still want to explore more of St. Maarten, there are taxis to take you a bit further into town for more shopping and exploring, or you can head back to the ship.

If you have adventures planned in the other ports, it might be fun to skip a formal Port Adventure in St. Maarten and just visit the port area on your own before spending some family time together back on the Fantasy. I hope that helps as you continue to plan, JanaLee!
