Advise me please! What would be your game plan to handle the crowds Thanksgiving week? What days would be best to visit which parks during that week? Staying 11/24 - 12/1 and in quick need of ideas before it's time to book dining! Thanks for all your help!

I've made dozens of trips to WDW, but I've never been there on a major holiday. This Thanksgiving will be my first, so I'm relying more on research than personal experience to answer this one. No matter what your game plans end up being, the key to a great vacation will be keeping your expectations in check. You're never going to be able to do "everything" at WDW, but this is more true during the holidays. My first step will be to ask each member of my family the top two or three "must do's.". We'll concentrate on those attractions and consider anything else we see gravy (pun intended). My other strategy for that weekend will be to spend as much time as possible in the resorts. We're going to have tea at the Grand Floridian, look at the Christmas decorations around the hotels, take a carriage ride at Fort Wilderness, and go parasailing from the Contemporary. (This will be another first for me. Yikes!)

I'm normally in the avoid-Extra-Magic-Hours camp, but I think for the holiday it will be extra important to get as much early time in the parks as possible. So, I'm going to get the kiddos up at the crack of dawn to take advantage of early morning EMH.

As far as your question about which park to visit on which day, I'm going to refer you to Moms Panelist Bret who has gotten some great information from the website touringplans.com. They have done amazing work tracking crowd patterns at the parks. As Bret notes here and here, on Thanksgiving Day, Epcot and the Animal Kingdom will be less crowded than the Magic Kingdom. On the day after Thanksgiving, the Magic Kingdom will be slightly less busy than on the holiday itself.

Good luck planning and be sure to say "hi" if you see me in the parks.
