What is there to do at disneyland/california adventure for a 2 year old??

  • Hi there, Katey! I am so glad that you brought this question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel because there is SO MUCH for little ones to do at the Disneyland Resort!

In addition to the over 40 attractions in both parks that don't have height restrictions, one of my daughter's all-time favorite locations is Mickey's Toontown in Disneyland Park. Sometimes little ones need some space to run around and play and this is just the place to do that. Your child can explore Donald's Boat, play around in Goofy's Playhouse, and climb Chip n' Dale Treehouse. You can even take a stroll through both Mickey's and Minnie's houses and meet these famous mice here as well.

In Disney California Adventure Park, your first stop should be “a bug’s land” because it is the perfect place for 2-year-olds! As you enter this land, you will shrink down to the size of the bug and marvel at the whimsical creations Flik and his pals have constructed out of some common human objects like popsicle sticks, raisin boxes, and more. There are also three attractions that don’t have height restrictions that your child will love. We adore soaring on Flik’s Flyers, taking a spin on Francis’ Ladybug Boogie, and seeing the larger-than-life, half eaten treats on Heimlich’s Chew Chew Train. If it’s a hot day, stop by Princess Dot Puddle Park which is a super fun splash pad and the perfect way to cool off. Just remember to bring a change of clothes for your little one and perhaps some water shoes.

I hope this helps give you some ideas of what to do with your child on your next visit to the Happiest Place on Earth!

    Greetings Katey!

Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel! As a fellow mom of a two-year-old, I can say that there are endless opportunities for your little prince, princess, pirate, or Padawan to have the time of their life at the Disneyland Resort.

My son at this age just loves interacting with all of his favorite Disney Characters at Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. It's amazing to see his eyes light up when he sees Mickey Mouse or Goofy. These greetings have also taught him valuable life lessons such as taking turns while he waits for his personal meeting and developing his language and conversation skills in a new situation. We make sure to check the Disneyland app early in the day to plan for any extra special Characters he may really want to meet.

Apart from the countless attractions without a height requirement, we also love the various modes of transportation around the Disneyland Resort. My son just adores chugging along the Disneyland Railroad, riding the Disneyland Monorail, and sitting in all of the different Main Street Vehicles. Many of these methods of transportation can be enjoyed over and over with little to no wait time, so they are perfect for a sometimes impatient toddler.

Don't forget to take your little one for some extra special treats while at the Disneyland Resort. My son loves the tradition of having a Dole Whip at Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room!

I hope your family has an amazing time creating memories at the Disneyland Resort!

    Hi, Katey!

Welcome, and thanks for your question about exploring the Disneyland Resort with a 2-year-old. Your toddler is the perfect age to enjoy many attractions, shows, parades and other unique experiences offered in the theme parks!

If there is no minimum height requirement for an attraction, then it’s safe for your little one to ride! There are even a few attractions with height requirements that he or she may be tall enough to experience, like Autopia at Disneyland Park and Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters at Disney California Adventure Park, which have a minimum height requirement of only 32 inches. Some favorite attractions my whole family likes to experience together in Disneyland Park are “it’s a small world,” Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Peter Pan’s Flight, Jungle Cruise, and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Almost every attraction in Fantasyland is toddler-friendly! In Disney California Adventure Park, a big hit with my own 2-year-old daughter is Disney Junior DanceParty!, a high-energy experience packed with musical fun, special effects (what toddler doesn't love bubbles and confetti?) and favorite characters from shows like Sofia the First, Doc McStuffins and Mickey and the Roadster Racers. This interactive dance party show is the perfect opportunity for active kiddos to get their wiggles out!

A must-do when my son was 2 years old was exploring Cars Land at Disney California Adventure Park. You’ll feel like you stepped right into a scene from the movie! Grab a diner-inspired meal at Flo’s V8 Cafe and take a seat near the floor-to-ceiling glass windows or on the open-air patio overlooking the Radiator Springs Racers attraction to watch the cars zoom by with your little one. I hope this helps, Katey, and that you have a pixie dust-packed visit to the Happiest Place on Earth with your young Mouseketeer!

    Wishing you magic,
