    Angelia Asked

With 2 adults 14 & 4 year old girls is the meal plan needed? We don't want to be locked into eating a specific times and have read a lot of reservations are needed. Also thinking of staying at the swan, 1000$ cheaper but no meal plan. Please help

While Disney's Dining plans do offer significant savings for many families, Angelia, they certainly aren't necessary and--depending upon your eating habits--may not represent a cost savings for you.  They do save money for families that would otherwise order and pay out of pocket for the same meals that they would have on the dining plan.  If, on the other hand, you don't intend to order a drink and dessert with every meal or your children might share a meal here and there, then you'd probably be better off paying out of pocket for your meals.  Still, if you do want to eat sit down meals (and pay out of pocket) in specific restaurants, you really should make dining reservations or else risk being "shut out" of Disney's most popular restaurants.  If yours is the type of family that prefers to dine at quick-service locations on a whim, then you should be fine without reservations.

The Swan is a lovely property within walking distance of Epcot and Disney's BoardWalk.  I wouldn't pass up the opportunity for that kind of savings just for the chance to participate in a dining plan that you aren't sure you want to be tied into.  That's just my two cents but hopefully it gives you some perspective.  Good luck with your decision!
