My adult son has a mental health disorder that makes it very difficult for him to be enclosed with other people next to him for more than a few minutes. Would it be possible to get a disability pass for him?

Hi, Patricia!  Thank you for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

As the parent of a child with special needs, I can assure you from personal experience that the Walt Disney World Resort goes above and beyond when it comes to services for guests with disabilities.

On the Services for Guests with Disabilities page of the Walt Disney World website, you can click on "Disability Access Service" for a pdf file that details the process for obtaining and using Disability Access Service (DAS).  Disability Access Service is intended for guests whose disability prevents them from waiting to experience an attraction in a traditional queue environment.  In order to determine if Disability Access Service is right for your son, you can speak with a Guest Relations Cast Member at any of the four Walt Disney World theme parks.

In the meantime, I think you might find the Services for Guests with Cognitive Disabilities section of the Walt Disney World website quite helpful.  Here you can find some great information on how to prepare for visiting the Walt Disney World Resort with a guest with special needs.  You can also feel free to contact Disability Services at (407)560-2547.

Patricia, I think that you will find that the Walt Disney World Resort does a great job of making the magic accessible for everyone.  Wishing you the vacation of your dreams!
