Hello moms! My adorable animal and science loving cousin wants to know if there are any "ligers" (a tiger and a lion put together) in the Animal Kingdom?? Thank you for answering!

Hi, Robert! The idea of a liger is AWESOME. Unfortunately, the Animal Kingdom doesn't have any ligers. How about you and me work on a list of cool animals to cross breed? I have high hopes for a rhino and ostrich.

On the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail, one of the first animals you'll see is the okapi, which looks like a cross between a zebra and a giraffe. The okapi is a relative of the giraffe, but it just so happens to have zebra striped legs.

While the Animal Kingdom doesn't have the liger, it does have lions and tigers (no bears, oh my.) The tigers can be found on the Maharajah Jungle Trek. After passing through the bat viewing area (CREEPY!) you'll soon arrive at the world's coolest animal visitation area EVER. The tiger viewing area is astonishing and is set amidst the ruins of an Indian palace. So cool.

The lions (not Simba or Mufasa, who can be found at the Festival of the Lion King,) are on Kilimanjaro Safaris. They're most active in the mornings. One time we saw them, they were really active.

Speaking of breeding, Disney’s Animal Kingdom is part of a breeding program coordinated by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums that is focused on sustaining the elephant population in North America. In fact, the elephants there have cranked out five babies since the park opened its doors.
