Is it actually worth it to use AK extra magic hours in the morning (we are not normally early risers)?

Jambo, Renee! Thanks for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I took advantage of the morning Extra Magic Hours at Disney's Animal Kingdom when I visited in December and I was glad that I did. Yes, it means you have to get up a bit earlier, but there is considerable difference in the wait times for popular attractions. I went straight to Kilimanjaro Safaris and found that the animals were much more active and visible. I got some amazing photographs from that safari ride. I then made it to Expedition Everest and Kali River Rapids. I walked by Expedition Everest a bit later in the day after the park had been open for awhile and was thankful I had already gotten it in because the lines were outrageous. If you have a plan of action you can usually enjoy the majority of attractions before the park opens and avoid the lines. After you ride everything, you can slow down and take the time to enjoy the animals and the amazing shows. The Festival of the Lion King is one of my favorite shows in all of Walt Disney World.

I highly suggest taking advantage of the Extra Magic Hours. In fact, when I plan a vacation, I always look to see which parks will have Extra Magic Hours and plan my entire vacation around that.

If you have any more questions please feel free to stop by and we'd be happy to help in any way we can.

Have a magical Walt Disney World vacation!
