What activities will be taking place the week of Thanksgiving at WDW. We are scheduled to come in on the 19th of November and I would like to know if it will still be fall or will Christmas decorations have been put up then?

    Hi Connie!

Thanksgiving week is a great week to visit Walt Disney World. It marks the end of the fall season for the parks and the beginning of the holiday time throughout the property. It is my own family's favorite time for a family reunion vacation and we will be there once again this year.

The Christmas decorations actually start to show up in early November in the Magic Kingdom park. Once the  Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party dates begin the park is decorated for the holidays. You will start to see other parks add large trees or their own decor but by the end of the Thanksgiving week most of the parks and resorts will be in full swing with their holiday spirit.

Several resorts have special offerings such as the Grand Floridian's life size gingerbread house. The Beach Club has my favorite which is a full size chocolate carrousel with hidden Mickey's all around it. The Yacht Club resort has a railroad village covering one entire corner of the lobby. The Contemporary has special goodies for sale and there is nothing more magical then sitting at the Wilderness Lodge by the fireplace and dreaming of being in the north woods at Christmas.

Epcot will begin their famous Candlelight Processional with the addition of a special addition to the Illuminations show the day after Thanksgiving. Santa is out and about the parks and Disney Springs before Thanksgiving week too.

It is a gradual transition from fall to holiday decor but by the end of Thanksgiving week every part of the World will be in full swing Christmas!
