What accommodations are possible for mobility disabilities?

    Hi Nancy,

My mom was recovering from an injury and needed to utilize a motorized scooter during our last Walt Disney World Resort vacation. Additionally, we have vacationed at Disney while our son was in a wheelchair following knee surgery. On both occasions, we were extremely impressed with how well their needs were met.

Walt Disney World Resort offers various service options for guests with mobility disabilities. Depending on which specific mobility category you fit into and what your restrictions are, there are different attractions which you may be able to enjoy.

    The various categories are:

    * Must transfer from wheelchair/ECV to ride vehicle
    * Must transfer from ECV to wheelchair
    * Must transfer from ECV to wheelchair, and from wheelchair to ride vehicle

Additionally, there are some attractions which permit guests to remain in their wheelchair or Electric Conveyance Vehicle (ECV) during the entire experience. There are other attractions which require guests to be able to walk by themselves or have assistance from a family member.

To see what service and access options are available for guests with mobility disabilities, please click the link which I provided above. If we can assist you further after you have reviewed the options, please do not hesitate to send us a follow-up question.

    Wishing you magical memories,

    Kaylene
