Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel

  • Hi Moms, if we land at 11:55am on a sunday, how much time should I allow to get to bay lake tower, check in and then take the bus to downtown disney to have lunch at Trex? Could I make a 2pm reservation? How long does the magic express usually take? Thanks

  • Hi Claudia,

I think that two hours between the time you land and the time of a dining reservation that is not at your resort hotel is not long enough.  You really do need to build in up to two hours in your schedule between the time you land and the time you arrive at your Walt Disney World resort hotel when taking Disney's Magical Express.  There are a few variables that might impact how long this journey will take.  First, you need to walk from your gate at the airport to the Disney's Magical Express location.  There is not typically this is not a long wait for a Magical Express coach, but depending on the number of guests, you may wait a little while.  The ride from Orlando International Airport to Walt Disney World is only about 30 minutes long; however, once you arrive at Walt Disney World your coach might first drop guests off at resorts other than yours.  I think you need to plan to arrive at your resort between one and two hours after you land, with 90 minutes about average.  You would then need to catch a bus to Downtown Disney.  You likely would not wait longer than 20 minutes for the bus, but if you had just missed one and then needed to catch the next one, plus the time it would take to ride to Downtown Disney, I think that trying to make your 2:00 p.m. reservation at T-REX would be stressful.

I suggest that you either move your reservation for lunch at T-REX to later in the afternoon, or try the Contempo Cafe at Disney's Contemporary Resort for lunch.  It is a quick-service location, and I really love the food there.  This way, you will not need a reservation or have to worry about immediately catching another bus when you arrive at Walt Disney World.

I am limited in the space that I have to answer, Claudia.  Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions!
