Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel

  • What time does the monorail start & stop running? Does it run late when Epcot has Extra Magic Hours til 12 midnight?  Staying at the Poly
  • - Asked by Deborah from Louisiana on 3/6/2010
  • Hi Deborah,

You are going to love the Polynesian resort. It is not only a fantastic family resort, but the advantage of the monorail transportation is an added bonus.

There are three options for the monorail system. The resort monorail, which stops at the Polynesian/ Grand Floridian/Magic Kingdom/Contemporary and Ticket Transportation Center, usually begins running at 7am and runs until 2 hours after the latest park closing between Magic Kingdom or Epcot.

The express monorail, which runs from the Ticket Transportation Center (walking distance from Polynesian), to the Magic kingdom starts around 30 minutes before the opening of Magic Kingdom and runs until Magic Kingdom is cleared for the night.

The Epcot monorail, again originating from the Ticket Transportation Center begins its day right around 8am and will run until approximately 90 minutes after the closing of Epcot or Magic Kingdom (which ever closes latest that day).

During Extra Magic Hours at Epcot and Magic Kingdom, the monorail system will operate and runs until the extra magic hour park is cleared. If there is a question on what the latest operating time is on any specific day, there are Cast Members at all the loading areas and they will be happy to confirm for you that days schedule.

Hope this helps. Enjoy and don't forget to stop in Captain Cook's for a DoleWhip. Yummy!
