  • Hey Kathy!  Thanks for asking your question here on the Disney Parks Moms Panel.  This past Christmas my family and I visited Walt Disney World and we had such a great time.  We loved it so much, we are already planning a trip over this year's holiday!

Christmas Day is a very busy time to visit the parks.  Often times, Magic Kingdom will reach maximum capacity in the late morning/early afternoon and wont open back up for entry till later in the day.  If you want to visit the Magic Kingdom Christmas Day, you need to arrive early.  What we did, which worked really well, was arrive at Magic Kingdom before the park opened for Extra Magic Hours.  Extra Magic Hours are early or late park hours that only guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort can utilize.  We were able to take some amazing Christmas morning photos in front of Cinderella's Castle with no one in the background.  It was awesome.  After we took some pictures, we were able to ride several of our favorite attractions a few times before the park started to get busy.  We made our FastPass+ reservations for later in the afternoon when the park tends to be really busy.

There are so many special things to see and do over the course of the week.  I would absolutely recommend visiting some of the gingerbread houses that are set up at different resorts throughout Walt Disney World.  Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa creates a life size gingerbread house each year that puffs smoke.  It is incredible to see in person.  We also carried some of our personal Christmas traditions over like having cinnamon rolls for breakfast which we found at Magic Kingdom. We ate at our favorite restaurant, 'Ohana, for Christmas dinner and really enjoyed the day.

The whole experience of visiting Walt Disney World over Christmas was just fantastic.  We loved it and can't wait to do it again.
