Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel
- Hey Mom's panel! I was wondering if any of you have used the new "My Disney Experience" magic band yet? Where were you able to use it? What are the capabilities at this time? I haven't been able to find out much about it, and I would love to some

- Hi, Christan!
I've had my eyes open on this exact topic ever since my room's door lock at Beach Club Resort was changed mid-stay back in June. Guests were notified of the change the night before the lock was changed out, and I got to be the first Guest that Engineering watched use the new Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Key to the World Card to unlock my door. I knew that other RFID technology must be coming soon, since those locks will read wristbands as well...and here it is!
Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Tom Staggs posted a great article on Disney Parks Blog on the use of RFID in Walt Disney World; check out "Taking the Disney Guest Experience to the Next Level" for more information. There's a lot of great conversation going on in Guest comments below the blog, so have fun reading through them; I can't wait to try it myself!
At this time, the wristband is still in test mode, but is slated to serve as Guests' room key, theme park ticket, access to FastPass+ selections, PhotoPass card and an optional payment account as well.
There are some additional, unofficial, sources of information on this endeavor at several fan sites, too. Check out the latest on themeparkreview.com, allears.net and attractionsmagazine.com for fan chatter, often updating as Guests who've seen them in the parks adding more information as time goes by.
Keep an eye on Disney Parks Blog for the latest information, Christan, and be sure to send more questions our way; we love to help Guests with the latest in Walt Disney World!
