Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel

  • I've been reading this panel since its beginning and keep thinking I'm going to stumble onto the answer to this question, but alas, I must ask...What is DD, DH, DS, etc??? It's driving me crazy not knowing. Thanks!

  • And thank you so much for asking this question! I'm sure that you're not the only person confused by this. I was a chat board novice until just before signing on with the Moms Panel. I have to admit that I too was perplexed by all the abbreviations and acronyms too.

    Here's the secret code ...

The first "D" stands for the word "dear" or "darling" and the second letter (S, W, H, D) stands for the family relationship (son, wife, husband, daughter). So, my DH is my "darling husband" and my DD is my "darling daughter." It's all just a shorthand way of describing the configuration of your family.

To further complicate things, since I have three DDs, if I want to mention just the oldest one, I might refer to her as DD11, because she's 11 years old. If you look at this question, you'll see another variation on this theme. I happen to have two DD8s. I haven't figured out the correct protocol for abbreviating twins in this system.

If you poke around the Disney chat boards at disboards.com or intercot.com (and there are MANY others), you'll also see major use of Disney abbreviations there. Some are obvious: WDW = Walt Disney World, POFQ = Port Orleans French Quarter. And if you were wondering, you can use ASSR or ASSP for the All Star Sports resort ;-)

There are other Disney abbreviations that take more getting used to: ADR = advance dining reservation, CB = character breakfast OR Caribean Beach resort depending on the context,  WNT = Wishes Nighttime Spectacular.

So ... TYVM (thank you very much) for the Q (question). Writing this has given me a BG (big grin) KWIM (know what I mean). LOL (l am lauging out loud).

TTFN (ta ta for now) ...

    E (Erin)
