Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel
- I have heard about new, improved nutritional/healthy snacks and options at Walt Disney World, but am not entirely clear on the details. Can you give me more information about healthy food choices at Walt Disney World?

The U.S. Surgeon General was just at Disney World last month and presented the company with the “Healthy Youth for a Healthy Future” Champion Award in recognition of Disney’s well-balanced food initiative.
The Walt Disney Company created food guidelines that govern its licensed foods and promotions aimed at children. It has eliminated added trans fats from more than 1,000 food products and made well-balanced meals for children the standard at its U.S. theme parks. Instead of the typical french fries, kids meals are accompanied by things like carrot sticks, apple slices or applesauce (substitution of fries still available upon request).
There are a variety of subtle health conscious changes, like the use of whole wheat or multi-grain buns and increased availability of yogurt. There are also more obvious changes, like the elimination of trans fat and an expansion of vegetarian offerings at counter service locations. Great salads are easier to find at quick service locations now I know.
Hope that helps!
