Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel

  • Hi! I'm wondering if my hubby & I should take our 4 yr old to WDW or wait until she's older? We live in BC and would plan to stay in WDW for 2 wks or more. We're just not sure with the cost, if it would be wiser to go later when she can do more? Tha

  • I would definitely take her now.  At 4 she's big enough to appreciate so much of the parks, and small enough that the magic will still be real.

I'm not sure of her size, but you can check height restrictions if that is a concern for you.  At 4 my daughter was able to ride almost every ride in the parks, and the few that she was too small for were not really age-appropriate anyway.  Search 'height' on our mom's panel website for similar questions that detail the specific height requirements for various rides.

My girls have been going since infancy and we've never felt that we missed out on anything because of their age or size.  There are so many shows, rides, attractions, pools and other fun activities that no matter what your age when you go, you'll never be able to do it all in one trip.  You probably couldn't do it all in 10 trips!  So while there may be things she can't do, there will be many many more things that she can.  Very little in Disney World is off-limits to even the youngest of children.

I think your daughter would delight in things like a character meal with princesses, a visit to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, seeing Tinkerbell fly from Cinderella's Castle, or a hug from Mickey himself.  And if she's more adventurer than princess, check out The Boneyard playground, Kilimanjaro Safaris, the Kidcot Fun Stops in Epcot, Playhouse Disney Live in Hollywood Studios...and so much more.  There is an entire section on the Disney website devoted to planning for pre-schoolers, so rest assured there will be no shortage of age-appropriate activities for your daughter to enjoy.

I highly recommend taking your children when they are little.  The magic is real for them, and a little more real for you because of it.  You'll be making memories to last a lifetime!
