  • We're planning a Disney World trip for Dec 2013 with 2 preschoolers. I've heard that you can enjoy activities at the Disney Resorts without being an actual resort guest. If so, what budget friendly/complimentary things could we do on the resort properties?

  • Hi Jessica!

Congratulations on your upcoming trip to Walt Disney World!
December is a wonderful time of year to visit as there is even more to explore than usual!

One great way to spend an evening is over at the Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort. Nightly, you can join Chip 'n' Dale for a Campfire Sing-A-Long, roasting marshmallows over a campfire, and watching a movie under the stars. Best of all, there's no charge to visit!

Another great area to consider spending an evening is Disney's BoardWalk area, between Hollywood Studios and Epcot. This area can be accessed on foot or via Friendship Boat from either of the parks. On the BoardWalk side of Crescent Lake, a magician entertains most evenings at about 7:00pm. Be sure to visit the BoardWalk Bakery or Seashore Sweets for a treat while you stroll around this vibrant area. On the other side of the lake, visit the beach at Disney's Beach Club and Yacht Club Resorts where you'll find another marshmallow roast and outdoor movie taking place nightly, weather permitting. These festivities usually begin at about 7:00pm during winter months, and anyone can join in the fun.

Finally, one of my favourite activities to enjoy outside of the parks themselves during the holiday season, is visiting the Deluxe Resorts' lobbies to view the incredible Christmas displays. You could make an entire day of it if you really wanted to! Top displays to be sure to visit include Disney's Grand Floridian Resort's life-size gingerbread house, the Contemporary Resort's giant gingerbread tree, and Disney's Beach Club and Yacht Club Resorts' miniature display as well as gingerbread and chocolate carousel.

Wishing you a simply Magical time at Walt Disney World Jessica!

    Kirsten
