Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel
- My son has special needs. He has PDD. He won't stay still in the attraction lines for very long. What does Disney World have in place for kids with PDD & AUTISM in place?

- Great question Reid! Like every other detail I can imagine, Disney has thought of this as well, and you will still be able to enjoy a great vacation.
When you arrive at the first park you visit, go to Guest Relations. They can provide you with a Guest Assistance Card that will help you out. You can present this card to the Cast Member at the entrance to the rides and attractions that you want to experience. They will then guide you to the appropriate place for you to enter and enjoy. This does not mean that you will 'cut to the front of the line', but it will help you tremendously in situations where the queue is not easily workable for your child.
When we visited in October I met a family with a very similar situation. The father waited alone in line to meet Handy Manny, and when he got to the front of the line his wife and son (who is autistic) joined him so his son could have his turn. This allowed him to meet the character he wanted without getting anxious from waiting in line. The father I spoke with said that the Cast Members had been very accommodating and that this was the first vacation they had taken in 5 years because it always seemed too hard, but they had such a great time they were already planning their next visit. That's a little bit of that famed Disney Magic you hear so much about.
