Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel
- I Travel to Disney every year with my daughter, who has autism. She is the type who obsesses about everything and I am worried about the new photo. Can we get the Photo and Disability Card in the Resort or just at the parks.Easier for her at resort.

- Hi Dave ~
As the Mom of a special needs son, I completely understand how a special needs child can obsess and stress over things. Its always great to plan ahead and avoid stress whenever possible.
The Disability Access Service (DAS) Card is only available at Guest Relations at the four theme parks. It is valid up to 14 days from the date of issue so you won't have to get another one unless your stay is longer than 14 days. Be prepared to answer some questions and explain your daughter's specific needs to the Cast Members at Guest Relations so they can assist with her individual needs. They take the photos with an iPad so they can come around to Guests and take the photos quickly. This really makes it easy for those Guests who don't quite understand or like to have their photos taken.
Disney remains committed to assisting Guests with all types of special needs including those with Cognitive Disabilities. They have put together A Resource for Guests with Cognitive Disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) which you can find on the link shown above. This will give you a lot of things you can do before and during your trip to help it go as smooth as possible.
I'm limited in space but recently answered a question for a Guest with more details of how the DAS works that you may find helpful. Here is a list of Frequently Asked Questions about the DAS.
Please feel free to visit again with any other questions. We're hEAR for you!
Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
