Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel
- Does anyone with a child with a disability have any experience with the new GAC? My son is a heart patient and just had open heart surgery last winter. I know the policy changed due to abuse, we have paperwork (and his scars!) to prove disability.

- Hi Laura,
As a Mom of a child with disabilities, I understand your concerns. The Disability Access Service (DAS) Card was developed to cut down on the abuse of the GAC and make the Disney experience fair to all Guests.
If your son has difficulties waiting in a standard queue, you can obtain a DAS at Guest Relations in any of the theme parks. You will not be required to bring any medical documentation regarding his condition. You are welcome to bring it but they may not even look at it. Your son will need to be present to obtain the DAS. They will ask you a few questions regarding his needs, go over the terms and conditions and take his photo for the DAS so be prepared for this to take a few minutes.
Once you obtain a DAS, you can go to an attraction and see a Cast Member to get a return time to enter the FASTPASS or other alternate entrance if necessary. Your son will not need to be present to get a return time for attractions but must be present when you return to enter the queue and when you board the attraction. The DAS differs from a FASTPASS in that there is no window of a return time so there is no pressure to make it back to that attraction within a certain time frame. You can only obtain a return time for one attraction at a time but you can get another DAS return time as soon as you've finish your current one. FASTPASS and FastPass+ can be used in addition to the DAS.
With the DAS, you are waiting the current wait time like other guests but are given the opportunity to do so in an alternate location (this is wherever you'd like - its not designated). Please keep in mind that there may be some changes along the way for the new DAS system before your trip.
Here is a list of Frequently Asked Questions about the DAS that may be helpful.
Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
