- Hi, Brandy!
If your son qualifies for the new Disability Access Service (DAS) Card, he will not actually be required to wait in the regular standby line, but instead your party (up to 6 people) will be given a return time for the attraction. This return time is based on the current wait time minus 10 minutes. When you come back to ride the attraction, you will have a minimal wait or no wait in line. You can also use the DAS Card in addition to Disney's FASTPASS and FastPass+ services to help make your Disney theme park time as efficient and convenient as possible.
In my opinion, one of the best features of the DAS Card is that it is not necessary to bring the DAS Cardholder to the actual attraction to obtain a return time. This is particularly helpful for families traveling with children with cognitive disabilities, such as those with autism. This means that you or your husband may visit the attraction to obtain a return time without bringing your son (and his siblings) to the attraction. But please keep in mind that your son will need to board the attraction with the rest of your family when you return to ride.
I hope this helps! For more information on the DAS Card, please click on this link to the Disney Parks Disability Access Service Card Fact Sheet recently posted on the Disney Parks Blog.
