Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel
- The old GAC- we used the wheelchair entrance and then waited to board a ride or FP line. DS is mobile but uses a pushchair. How do we use the new system, and can DS have a DAS and use "stroller as wheelchair" because it looks like a jog stroller

- Hi Anne!
I have a son with Cerebral Palsy who uses a stroller as a wheelchair. I was at Disney a couple of days before the new system went into place and asked that question. The Cast Member (CM) I spoke with told me that we should still visit Guest Relations to get something to go on his stroller so that CMs would see that he was using it as a wheelchair.
If your daughter is using her pushchair as a stroller and is able to wait in standard queues where available, she will not need a Disability Access Service (DAS) Card. If there are queues that require Guests in wheelchairs to enter through alternate queues, you can see a CM for assistance. They will give you a return time to come back to the attraction based on the current wait time.
If your daughter is unable to wait in a regular queue, you should go to Guest Relations to obtain a DAS. She will need to be present with you to obtain the DAS to have her photo taken for the card so be prepared for it to take a few minutes.
Once you obtain a DAS, you can go to an attraction and see a CM at the entrance to get a return time to enter the FASTPASS (FP) or other alternate entrance if necessary. Your daughter will not need to be present to get a return time for attractions. The DAS differs from a FP in that there is no window return time so there is no pressure to make it back to that attraction within a certain time frame.
You can only obtain a return time for one attraction at a time but you can go and get another DAS return time for a different attraction as soon as you've finished. FP and FastPass+ can be used in addition to the DAS. Please keep in mind that there may be some changes along the way for the new DAS system.
Here is a list of Frequently Asked Questions about the DAS that you may find helpful.
Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
