Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel

  • My husband recently had a knee replacement and still uses a cane. Will he have to stand in line or somehow is he given a little rellief? He is ready to back out of our trip if it means a lot of standing. Sorry for all the questions I have sent.

  • Hi Carol!
Nobody should have to back out of a trip to Walt Disney World. I just had hip surgery in February and visited WDW for April vacation and have a few suggestions for you. First, there is the option to rent a wheelchair or ECV (electric scooter) to get around the parks and ease the burden on his knee. Also, you can inquire about a GAC (Guest Assistance Card) at Guest Services at the main entrance to any park. After explaining his situation to the Cast Member, they can possibly offer a card that will help minimize your husband's need to stand (or wait) in long queues. I found it helpful to have a note from my surgeon as well.
I hope this helps and I wish you a Magical (and pain free) vacation!! :)
    Chris
