  • Hi, I have a dear friend who has stayed at Ft. Wilderness Campground in an RV.  She had shared with me the best spots to stay are in the LOOPS with the lowest numbers because they are the closest to the Beach, Hoop-Dee-Doo Review, Petting Farm Barn with Magic Kingdom Horses, and seems to be more centrally located to many of the activities.

Once we establish our lodging, I always go on the hunt for discount tickets through Corporate Discounts, AAA, or even through the Disney Stores.  I then purchase only what we need, if we aren't going to be heading to water parks, i wouldn't add the hopper option.  Now, like your kids, my kids are older, and like to head to the water parks, and lose mom in the sea of adolescent teenagers, and kids.

Meals:  We would eat one big table service meal a day, usually in mid afternoon, as the dinner prices were higher but still in the lunch time slot, so the servings were perfect, and the kids would be satisfied.  We shop for souvenirs, at the end of the trip, and look for sales, and there are sales, and good ones too, just look for the reddish orange sticker price tags.

I also give each of my kids a budget for the day.  They may have a budget of $30.00 a day, for food.  If they want a popcorn bucket, I ask them if thats what they really want, or do they want to have enough for the hot fudge sundae back at the resort at the end of the day.  It's amazing, I learned, when my kids had to spend their 'own' money, that they were much more resistant, and I came home with more money than when I try to do it all.  It also teaches them the value of the dollar.  (what value?? I know. :) )  I hope this helps!!  Have an amazing trip!!!  Heather M.
