Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel
- I could really use some help. We would like to plan a Disney World Vacation but there is SO much information. What is the best way to do a 5 or 6 day vacation? Do I need to get the dining plan? What about lodging, is it cheaper to stay off site or?

Congratulations on your family's first visit to the Walt Disney World Resort! Yes, there is a great deal of information out there, but that's why we are here to help you navigate through all the planning!
First, I would recommend staying at least six days. That will allow you enough time to enjoy a great many attractions, visit all four Theme Parks at least once, and perhaps even one of the Water Parks. Please read HERE to find out how many days I consider optimal for taking it all in at a more relaxed pace.
Regarding the issue of staying on-property versus off-property, I will always recommend staying at a Disney Resort Hotel. There are simply too many Resort Benefits you won't be able to enjoy if staying off-property. Before booking your Disney Vacation Package, do check the Special Offers page. In fact, I would recommend checking it often even after making your reservation. If a qualifying promotion becomes available after you've booked your stay, you'll be able to call Disney and have them apply the discount to your already existing reservation.
Finally, I will suggest purchasing the Disney Dining Plan. It can save you up to 20% on meals. Please note, the Disney Dining Plan is only available to Disney Resort Guests. Therefore, if you opt to stay off-property you wouldn't be able to take advantage of these savings.
Let me know if I can answer any other Disney Vacation planning questions for you. It would be my pleasure to help you create memories of a lifetime!
