Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel

  • We are planning a trip for last week of August 2013 If we book trip now, is it possible to be able to change days if need be if dining plan becomes available or can't get time off of work? Is there is a fee if res has to be changed? Your panel rocks!

  • Hi there Kelly.

I've spent plenty of time over the years weighing my Walt Disney World travel options and I will say in situations such as yours, it makes a lot to reserve only the onsite resort portion of your trip. The Magic Your Way Vacation Packages require a $200 deposit and then, payment in full 45 days prior to check-in. If you need to cancel for any reason 45 days or less prior to your arrival, a change fee of $200 will assessed. Also, any changes that result in a lower rate, such as applying a discount code like Free Dining, reducing the number of days you plan to visit and/or changing to a lower-priced resort, made 45 days or less prior to arrival, are subject to a $50 fee.

Therefore, I'd recommend booking a room-only reservation at this time to hold a guest room at the Disney resort you've been dreaming of experiencing. That way, you can change or cancel your reservation without penalty up until 5 days prior to check-in! You can always convert your resort room booking to a vacation package at a later date, as theme park tickets and the dining plan can be added up to 3 days prior to your arrival.

Thanks so much for visiting us here at the Walt Disney World Moms Panel! Wishing you a pixie-dusted vacation!
