Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel

  • Hi! We are planning to go to Disney World in June 2012 for 7 or 8 days. We have a family of 5 (kids are 17, 11, 5) so it is very costly. Any recommendations for places to stay w/out sleeping on pull out beds? Is it better to stay outside of park?

  • Hi Shelley,

Have you looked at the options available for families of five at Disney's value resorts?  The family suites at these resorts are a great match for families like yours.  Currently, Disney's All-Star Music Resort offers these rooms for up to six guests.  In June 2012, Disney's newest resort (Art of Animation) will offer family suites as well.  At Disney's Art of Animation Resort, one of the beds is a Murphy-style bed that pulls down effortlessly from the wall.  You can check out previews of these rooms on the Disney Parks Blog here.

If Murphy, trundle, or pull-out beds are definitely not acceptable, I suggest you book two adjacent standard rooms at any of Disney's value resorts.  This combination of rooms can be even more affordable than the family suites.

Remember, if you stay on Disney property, your transportation to all the Disney theme parks is complimentary.  Or, if you drove your own car, parking is free.  This represents a significant savings over the course of a week-long vacation.

Let us know if you need any additional advice as you plan your magical Disney adventure.  We'd be happy to help!

    Jill

PS.  I've attached a video by my Moms Panel friend, Bernie.  In it, he offers a bunch of helpful suggestions for traveling to Walt Disney World on a budget.  Hopefully, you'll find some useful tips in it.
