  • Hi Margaret, wow, what a fantastic Christmas present for you and your family. In my opinion, spending time with your family is the best gift of all and top it off at the most magical place and that is the ultimate gift! I have several tips to get you started.

You will want to start by choosing your travel dates and resort hotel. Probably the least busy times of year are those not associated with the typical school breaks. One of my favorite times to go is in late February/very early March, just before the spring break madness begins. This time of year is a very mild temperature wise. My next suggestion would be after Labor Day and before the second week of October, when many schools begin their fall breaks. This time of year is a bit warmer and humid, but still manageable and the crowds are typically much lower. Keep in mind that we can never predict crowd levels, but historically these are great times to travel in my opinion.

Your next step is to choose your resort. If you are on a budget, I would strongly suggest a value or moderate priced resort. The value resorts are a great value for the money spent, but offer less amenities and aren't as centrally located as the moderate resorts. With a moderate you will spend a little more money and your room will typically be larger. So, I would recommend looking at what both offer and see where the fit is best for your family. My personal favorites are Disney's Pop Century Resort for value and Disney's Port Orleans Riverside for moderate. Pop Century has amazing larger than life theming and the pool area is lots of fun. Port Orleans Riverside has a quiet and spacious charm and the 'Ol Man Island recreation area has not only swimming, but fishing and a playground. I hope this helps you get started. Once you decide on those important steps, feel free to stop by and ask me more questions regarding dining and park tips. I'd love to offer my help.

    Happy Planning,
