Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel
- Hi, we are going to Walt Disney World in August 2009 and I am wondering which resort you'd suggest between Port Orleans Riverside and the Family Suite at the All Star Music. We are a party of 5. (2 adults and 3 children 4-6-8 years old.) Thank you

- Since your children are still fairly young, I would recommend staying at Port Orleans Riverside while it's still feasible. Last September we stayed there in the Alligator Bayou section with our four children in tow (one under the age of three in a portable crib). Quarters were cramped, but livable for the short time we spent in the room.
When your children get a bit older you'd probably be more comfortable in a family suite not only because of the added space, but also because they have two full bathrooms. If you're anything like me and you are interested in "trying out" each of the resort hotels, I would take this opportunity to stay at Port Orleans Riverside. Of course, I am biased because I absolutely love the quiet southern charm that makes Port Orleans Riverside what it is.
There are selling points though, besides what I've already mentioned. Your children might like to take advantage of the fishing hole at Port Orleans, or perhaps your family would enjoy renting a surrey bike from the marina. There are also pirate cruises (available for an additional cost) that set sail from Port Orleans Riverside. And my family enjoyed peaceful walks along the Sassagoula River to Port Orleans French Quarter for the yummy beignets that can only be purchased there.
Of course, if the space is precious to your family, the family suite may be the way to go. I've had the opportunity to tour the family suites and they are definitely far more spacious than the moderate rooms. Good luck with your decision!
