  • Going to WDW in May, celebrating son's 4th birthday and daughter's 1st. Staying at Port Orleans-Riverside with reservations at Chef Mickey's for breakfast on son's birthday. With a 4 day park hopper, how much time would you spend in each park?

  • Tara,

It sounds like you are off to a great start with your planning!  Chef Mickey's is my daughters' favorite place to celebrate their birthdays.  You'll have so much fun!

My first-timer touring plan is usually 6 days, with one day each in Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom, and two days each in Magic Kingdom and Epcot.  That allows a person to ride and experience most of the major attractions in each park.  I mention this only to prepare you for the fact that you won't have enough time to 'do it all' (if there even IS such a thing!) so you need to prioritize your must-dos.  I suggest picking up a good guidebook on Disney World and browsing it to get an idea of what you definitely want to take in.

My girls are right at the same ages as your children, and here is what I'd do with them:

Day 1 - Magic Kingdom (all day)
Day 2 - Animal Kingdom (closes early, so you could hop to Hollywood Studios for Fantasmic!)
Day 3 - Hollywood Studios first, then over to Epcot
Day 4 - Magic Kingdom again, option to re-visit another park if desired

I hope that helps you plan your visit.  Have a great trip!
