  • I see that 9 month olds can do a lot but I don't know what a lot really is. Can they ride on a lap for Pirates of the Caribbean for example?
  • - Asked by Jolene from Kansas on 1/28/2009
  • Hi Jolene,

Ok I had to answer this one because Pirates of the Caribbean is my ABSOLUTE favorite ride at Disney World and because of that my boys have been riding this since they were small infants. Yes you are able to hold your nine month old on the ride as well as many other rides similar to this. You will find a large majority of the rides are slow moving and allow for infants and toddlers to be held or seated next to you. Other examples of this are It's a Small World, Peter Pan's Flight, and the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. There are also many shows and attractions that do not involve any moving cars that you can enjoy with your child like the the Voyage of the Little Mermaid at Hollywood Studios and the Lion King at Animal Kingdom.

Of course only you know what is best for your own child and whether he or she may be upset by sounds, lights or movements. If you have concerns, I would suggest riding without your child first to make a final decision. You can find some great information about which rides do have height or safety restrictions by visiting here and then choosing the ride restriction option to your left.

We have been taking our boys to WDW since they were as little as four months and have always found more to do than we could fit into our trip. Besides the rides and attractions, each Disney resort has wonderful pools to relax in and many offer playground areas. There is a great tot play area at Magic Kingdom in Fantasyland called Pooh's Thoughtful SpPot and Toontown at MK is another place to enjoy some hands on fun. We have never run into a problem with finding something to keep our kids entertained, even when they were quite small. Wishing you a magical and memorable trip!
