Answered Question - Disney Parks Moms Panel

  • At two of my upcoming trips, I will have an actively training/newly potty trained toddler. Do you have any tips for touring the parks with such a child? Do the Baby Care Centers have space where I could set up my own travel potty for him when he needs it?

  • Hi, Kim!  I've done Walt Disney World with each of my daughters as brand new potty princesses, and while it can be a little bit challenging, it's definitely doable.

The lifesaver for me were the foldable potty seats.  You can find them everywhere anymore - and Target even had ones with Disney characters!  They fold up to fit into a handbag, diaper bag, or even a backpack, and you unfold them to put them over a regular toilet seat.  I used mine for a couple of weeks on the toilets at home, so when we arrived, the girls were familiar with them.  Once they were used, I wiped them down with a travel pack of disinfectant wipes, and put the seat into a zip-top bag, back into the diaper bag.

You can probably set up your portable seat in the bathrooms at the Baby Care Centers, but there is only one of those at each park, and if you are at the opposite end of the theme park from where the Baby Care Center is, you might not make it - especially with a newbie at the potty thing.  Those new trainers often wait until the last minute to let you know they gotta go - right now!

Bring more clothes than you think you'll need, and have a change or two in your bag when you go to the theme parks.  We also have a "rule of the road" in my family.  Whenever we traveled with little ones, when Mommy had to go, they all had to go.  I always insisted the girls try to go whenever I made a pit stop.

Good luck with the potty training, and have a dry and wonderful time at Walt Disney World!
